7. Gyeongbokgung 경복궁

This was the first palace to be constructed during the Joseon Dynasty. It is the grandest of the five palaces in Seoul and portrays the essence of the Korea royal court culture. Palace walls contain offices for the king and state officials, living quarters, and Huwon Garden, which houses Gyeonghoeru, regarded as the most beautiful pavilion of Korea. Also within palace grounds are the National Palace Museum, which displays relics of the Joseon Dynasty, and the National Folk Museum, where you can see the traditional lifestyle of Korea

8. Gyeonghuigung Palace 경희궁

Constructed as a detached royal villa at the house of Taejo Lee Seong-gye (1335-1408, r. 1392-1398), the founding king of the Joseon Dynasty, it eventually became the royal palace. It originally housed about 100 buildings but most were damaged and lost. Today’s palace remains quiet and serene. The Seoul History Museum is located nearby.
