Upcoming TOPIK exam dates
Registration status is calculated from today’s date in your browser — it cannot show a closed round as still open.

The official proof of your Korean ability
TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) is run by NIIED under Korea’s Ministry of Education. It is the certificate Korean universities, employers and immigration offices actually recognise.
University admission
Most Korean universities require Level 3–4 to enter and Level 4+ to graduate.
Jobs & promotion
Korean companies in Malaysia and abroad use TOPIK as a hiring and promotion benchmark.
Visa & residency
Counts toward Korean visa categories such as D-2 study and F-2-7 points-based residency.
Measuring progress
An objective, internationally comparable score — not a school’s own internal grade.
You don’t choose your level — your score decides it
You register for TOPIK I or TOPIK II. Which grade you receive depends entirely on the score you achieve.
| Test | Sections | Time | Total | Grade cut-offs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TOPIK Ⅰ | Listening 30 Q · Reading 40 Q (multiple choice) | 100 min | 200 | Lv 1 · 80+Lv 2 · 140+ |
| TOPIK Ⅱ | Listening 50 Q · Writing 4 Q · Reading 50 Q (multiple choice + written composition) | 180 min | 300 | Lv 3 · 120+Lv 4 · 150+Lv 5 · 190+Lv 6 · 230+ |
⚠️ The Writing section is what separates Level 4 from Level 3 for most students. It is also the part almost nobody can self-study effectively — it needs a teacher who marks your essays.
Where should you start?
Can’t read Hangul yet
TOPIK is not the next step. Start with our 4-week Basic Course, then move into Standard — your first month there is free.
See Basic Course →Reading Hangul, aiming for Level 1–2
Build overall ability in the Standard Course (SNU 1A–2B), and add TOPIK Prep in the two months before your exam date.
See Standard Course →Targeting Level 3–6
This is exactly what TOPIK Prep is for: past papers, timing, question patterns and marked essay practice for TOPIK II Writing.
See course & fees below ↓Don’t guess your level. Measure it.
Our free online mock test reproduces the real TOPIK format and timing. Sit it before you pay the exam fee — most students discover they are one level away from where they assumed.

Most Korean universities require Level 3 or 4 for undergraduate admission, and Level 4 or higher for graduate programmes and for graduation. Requirements vary by university and department, so check your target school. Our team can advise you during a free consultation, including our MOU partner universities.
For a student starting from zero, Level 3 typically takes about 12 to 18 months of consistent study. Students who already read Hangul comfortably and have finished our Standard Course Elementary level usually need considerably less. Anyone promising you Level 3 in a few weeks is selling you something.
They serve different purposes. Standard builds your overall Korean ability using the Seoul National University textbooks. TOPIK Prep is exam training — past papers, timing, question patterns and scoring strategy. Exam technique cannot compensate for missing vocabulary and grammar, so students with a fixed exam date usually take both at the same time.
The exam fee and test venues are set by the official operator, not by iSeodang, and they differ by country and by test type (PBT, IBT, Speaking). Overseas registration windows are also set locally and can differ from the Korean dates shown above. Message us on WhatsApp and we will tell you the current Malaysian venue and fee, or check topik.go.kr directly.
