Everything on this page is free and works on phones, tablets and computers. No account is needed.

1. Choose your language

   • Use the language buttons at the top of the page (EN · 한국어 · 中文).
   • Your choice is remembered on this device, and links you share open in the same language.

2. Learn the letters — Hangul Basics

   • Pick a tab: Consonants, Vowels or Double consonants.
   • Tap a letter. The stroke order plays automatically and you hear the letter name and an example.
   • Tap “Replay” to watch the strokes again, or “Listen” to hear the sound again.
   • Trace the letter with your finger or mouse in the “Trace it” box. Tap “Clear” to try again, and switch the grey guide letter on or off.
   • A tick appears on every letter you have opened, and the bar shows your progress. “Reset” starts again.

3. Build syllables — Syllable Builder

   • Choose an initial consonant, a vowel and, if you like, a final consonant (batchim).
   • The finished syllable block appears with its romanisation. Tap “Listen” to hear it.
   • “Random” shows an easy beginner combination to practise with.

4. Practice tools

   • Pronunciation rules: choose a rule and a word to see how it is written, how it is really pronounced and its romanisation, then tap “Listen”.
   • Numbers: type a number to see the Sino-Korean and native Korean readings, plus time, dates, money and counting. Try the quick quiz.
   • Particle quiz: choose the right particle (은/는, 이/가, 을/를, 와/과, 으로/로). The explanation tells you why.
   • Keyboard converter: type with English keys as if a Korean keyboard were switched on, then copy the Hangul.
   • Printable sheets: pick letters and the number of rows, then print an A4 writing sheet or save it as a PDF.
   • Word of the day: a new beginner word appears every day under the numbers at the top. Tap “Another word” for more.

5. Badges and daily challenge

   • Open every letter in a group to unlock a badge (Consonant Master, Vowel Master, Double Consonant Pro, Hangul Explorer). Add your name and download or share it.
   • Dictation: listen, type what you hear and check it letter by letter. “Today’s challenge” has 5 new questions every day; “Practice” is unlimited.
   • Your study streak grows each day you visit. It is shown under the numbers at the top.

6. Free weekly email tips

   • Enter your email in “Free Korean tips”, tick the consent box and confirm the email we send you.
   • You then get a welcome email and one short lesson a week for 4 weeks. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

7. Follow the learning path

   • Go through the five steps in order: letters → syllables → Hangul Arcade → Korean typing → free level test.
   • Each step opens the right page for you.

8. Use free textbooks and TOPIK materials

   • Cards marked “Official · External site” open a Korean government website in a new tab. Some of them ask for a free sign-up.
   • Cards marked “iSeodang” open our own pages, such as the TOPIK mock test and the TOPIK course.
   • The countdown in the TOPIK section shows the next paper-based test in Korea. Always confirm overseas dates with the official website or your local test centre.

9. Get help from a teacher

   • “Free Level Test” checks your level and recommends a class.
   • “Chat on WhatsApp” opens a message to iSeodang that is already written in your language.
   • Use the share buttons to send this page to a friend.

10. If something does not work

    • No sound: turn up the media volume, use Chrome, or add a Korean voice in your phone or computer settings, then reload the page.
    • Stroke picture missing: check your internet connection and reload the page.
    • Progress disappeared: private browsing or clearing browser data resets it.

11. Your privacy

    • Your progress is saved only in this browser on this device. iSeodang does not collect it.
